Pioneering digital learning: the UK's first university iTunes site, an early YouTube Edu partnership, and a photography course that lived inside an app.
This included setting up partnerships with Apple and Google to create new ways to connect students to learning content. I created one of the first university iTunes sites in the UK and one of the first YouTube Edu partnerships.
I developed a number of software applications and innovations, including work featured in Wired, which helped the University win awards for its pioneering research in this area. It is where I built my first augmented reality campaign, and where I did a lot of work on digital publishing and archiving, as co-investigator on several major funded research projects.
The photography app got the most attention: a free, undergraduate-level class delivered entirely inside an app, covered by the British Journal of Photography, Professional Photographer, PDN Pulse and the Times Higher. The open education work was later written up in a JISC report.
Alongside the research I taught at Coventry School of Art and Design on the Digital Media and Culture MA and the Media Production BA, and developed a pioneering BA in Digital Media.
