Product Director on a state-of-the-art web-based realtime games engine, and the 3D experience platform built on top of it. No goggles necessary.
My work covered AI, WebAssembly, optimisation and UX innovation: the deep engineering that has to be right before anything built on top of it can feel effortless. Room, the platform it produced, puts immersive events and experiences in 3D directly in a browser, on a new RealityOS engine built with WebGL and WebAssembly. The aim throughout was a metaverse for real people on the open web, with no goggles necessary.
That work supported the development of several products, plus R&D and patents, with 200+ company patents pending by the time I left. It produced pioneering WebAssembly software features, tools and experiences, and a brand new, state-of-the-art web-based realtime games engine.
I led and directed agile engineering teams, both internal and outsourced, across the globe: games engine, front end, back end and infrastructure developers alongside UX designers and 3D artists.
Room launched at SXSW in 2021 and went live globally in 2022. Best of all, it runs straight in the browser: try it.
